The Odyssey
-
Assignment
Lucita was tapped to develop a comprehensive social channel management plan to deploy campaign assets across platforms while building out a suite of cohesive standard campaign creative assets including countdowns, review quotes, and box office milestones.
-
Challenge
The film became the centerpiece of a culture war — from attacks on casting rumors to critiques over an adaptation nobody truly had any visibility on — as the trolls attempted to lay siege to our comment sections to tank the film long before it ever arrived in theaters.
Meanwhile, the creative team was tasked with maximizing a handful of limited unit photography selects and developing an approach that continued Nolan Campaign Standards set during Oppenheimer and adapting those rules in a bespoke way for The Odyssey. -
Solution
On the community management side, we developed robust, comprehensive filters updated almost daily that gave us a jump on moderating the onslaught of hateful comments — allowing us to largely nip attacks in the bud before they ever made it to the feed.
For creative, we worked within established Nolan fonts infused with design flares that felt fresh while remaining complementary to said established standards. This included two creative breakthroughs — one breaking the rule of 'no screengrabs' with countdowns that sold the epic scope of the film, and another navigating the rule prohibiting the cropping or manipulation of film frames as shot by using the technique of leveraging reflective surfaces.
